Christians despite their families

Persecuted Christians, in the majority of cases, have to pray and meet secretly from the security forces and the governments of the country in which they live, but there are more extreme situations and on other occasions, they also have to hide from their own relatives. That is the case of two sisters: Shani, 21, and Sasha, 16, two young Christian converts from Hinduism. They and their mother met Jesus about four years ago. Now, they love Jesus and go to church every Sunday. When these sisters made the decision to approach God, their father was living abroad. Therefore, he did not care about his daughters’ and his wife’s new faith or whether they attended church.

But everything changed when he returned to Sri Lanka. Shani and Sasha’s father forbade them from meeting other Christians. When he realized that his wife and his daughters were not going to stop going to church, he got angry and threatened them. “If you don’t stop going to church, I will leave this house.” The girls didn’t want to lose their father, so they took turns with their mother to go to church secretly.

The situation is really unstable because when the father found out that his daughters and his wife were still going to Church, he left the home, but not before hitting them and threatening them with possible suicide. Although they currently live in the same house, the situation is tense and sad, while the women continue hiding to go pray and meet with other Christians, they have a bad relationship with their father.

The girls say they do not want to have to choose between the patriarch and God because they are not going to give up their faith.
