Persecution of Christians in Cuba increases: A worrying panorama

Cuba, a country with more than 7 million Christians, faces a growing climate of religious repression, with more than half of its population practicing this faith. However, given this significant presence, the situation for believers has become even more hostile, with the communist government leading a campaign of persecution that seeks to address its fundamental rights.

The Cuban regime, under the pretext of safeguarding communism and state control, has intensified its repression against Christians, considering it a potential threat. Any expression that is perceived as contrary to the Communist Party of Cuba faces censorship and persecution, and the Christian faith is no exception.

Churches, both registered and unregistered, are subject to constant supervision by the government. Those who do not qualify for the official approval face the imminent penalty of being arrested, fined or expropriated, while including those who grant gubernamental approval are subject to exhaustive scrutiny.

This year, the pressure on Christians has intensified even more. Those who participated in protests or expressed their opposition to the government faced reprisals, which reflects a climate of oppression and oppression that extends throughout the Christian community.

Women, in particular, find themselves in a vulnerable situation. Those involved in anti-government activism can face reprisals in their workplaces, while property and detention by state authorities are most common, especially when they go to the church.

In a country where communism has ruled for decades, the presence over believers continues to be a constant reality. The recent parliamentary elections, aimed at bringing about a positive change, have only served to consolidate the power of the communist government, leaving Christians with little hope of a more tolerant future.

In this climate of increasing persecution, Cuban Christians continue to confront significant deeds, striving to practice their faith and defend their beliefs in the face of adversity and gubernal repression.
