Daesh terrorists ban Christian worship in Nigeria

The region bordering Burkina Faso is the one that is suffering the most from pressure and persecution by extremist and radical Islamic groups. Daesh, also known as the Islamic State, is one of the most damaging to Christian churches in the area, which have been forced to close. Many Christian communities have even had to flee their homes.

Chronologically, the events have been almost uninterrupted. Last August, this Islamic military group broke into two churches: four armed men entered the middle of the service with an assault rifle, a knife and a whip. These types of episodes have been repeated on many occasions since they have been in the region for three years and have banned any Christian worship in the area. Therefore, they seek out and persecute the communities that gather, despite what they try to do in secret.

The outcome was catastrophic: the Christians received lashes as punishment and with the premise that it would not be repeated because the punishment would be worse. Nigeria is one of the areas that is suffering the most persecution and the one that is most silenced, forgotten and ignored by the rest of the states and international organizations. Thus, Christmas dates are the most dangerous since extremist groups look harder for who gathers to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Between August and these Christmas dates, Nigerian Christians continue to live the terror of insecurity and lack of religious freedom.
